    SoCal WTB '91 318is or '88-'90 325is 5-spd

Hi all. I'm going to be in SoCal between Dec. 4 and Dec. 14, and while I'm there, I will be keeping my eyes open for a 1991 318is, a 1989-1990 325is, or a 1988 325is w/ plastic bumpers. I'm only looking for a 5-speed. Stock engine that'll pass CA emissions test. Suspension upgrades not necessary, but are a plus. Prefer any color other than black, bronzit, or bright red. If a 318is, prefer the cloth interior, but I can be flexible. Non-smoker (wife has asthma).

No projects, please. I'm looking for a fairly clean, no rust car that will be used as a weekend toy. Not a perfect garage queen/show car. My budget for the purchase is up to $8.5k. I'll pay reasonable market value, depending on the car's condition & service history. PM me if you have a car that might fit what I'm looking for. Thanks.

I think we spoke about my Alpine 1988 325is a few weeks back. I sent a few images to your phone. I live in the San Diego area if not and you are more than welcome to preview the car while you're on vacation.

Please let me know if your still interested.

          Hi,Jim.
I am located about 30 mi east of LA and have an '87 325is for sale. Would seem to meet your needs, except it's not an '88. But it has excellent mechanicals, rebuilt motor, new clutch, brakes, upgraded suspension, recovered seats, etc. All professionally done. White w/ tan sport interior. Just passed CA emissions with flying colors. Pls let me know if you're interested or not and I can get you pics, details, etc.
          Thanks,
          Rick

Thanks Rick. I'd like to get a later model with the plastic bumpers. Best wishes on the sale of your car.

You may find that performing a 5-speed swap on an auto-equipped car may be more cost effective and allow you to cast a wider net.

                    87' 325is

Hey I have an 87' 325is in grey. I'm in the valley, in sherman oaks. Car has only 55k miles, fully stock aside from koni springs and shocks. The paint was really rough when I bought it, as was the driver seat, but I've had it repainted the stock color and reupholstered the seat. Water pump and timing done just 500 miles ago. I'm asking $5k, make me an offer.

I have looked at cars that originally started out with automatics, but were converted to 5-speeds by the time I looked at them. I never thought about doing the conversion after my purchase. If it is cost effective to go that route, I would certainly consider it. Thanks for bringing this up, Mark.
