I'm not usually one to get into these kinds of discussions... But I don't think OP is too far off of his price. Finding a straight, rust-free starting point that hasn't been fucked around with by somebody who has a hard time tying their shoes in the morning, is a pretty tough thing to do nowadays.

I'd be glad to shove my foot in my mouth if you guys can bring up some other examples of a car with legitimate maintenance history with very well kept original paint and interior. A lot of guys around here seem to neglect the fact that paint and interior can really dictate the quality of a car's appearance. They're also fairly time and money consuming projects if not already sorted.

Good luck with the sale OP, you've got a great example of an E30. If you can't get the price you feel comfortable selling at I wouldn't think it'd hurt to just keep the thing.

      I agree with him ^

Post it on the BMWCCA classifieds. That is where a car like this will be appreciated for what it is - an unmodified, stock car that is in very original condition.

I still think 3-4k depending on how much the buyer appreciates the car, and the actual condition upon inspection. I would only pay 3k, and I could be content if he kept the k1's; the car is nice, but it's just not anything special. If all of the work was literally just done (suspension, bushings, brakes, fresh tires) then it would be worth more like $3500-4000+. The fact of the matter is that he has put miles on a lot of the things that would make it worth more... It's an early model eta, and there is just not enough of a market for the eta, let alone an early model without euro/plastic bumpers.

OP I am not trying to bash your for sale thread. I had a guy say that mine was only worth $1,500-2000 with the hood and bumpers unpainted. So basically he was saying it was worth $2500, and that is what I paid for the car... I also totally agree that the eta is not any different than the I with a legitimate chip, but most buyers want the I or Is specifically. Cars that sell here are usually always on the low side, but you do get the piece of mind knowing that a large portion of the buyers are enthusiast. You set the price closer to what you determine is firm, and pick a buyer that you feel is going to appreciate the car and take care of it. If you want 6k out of the car, store it in a climate controlled garage for a few years and I guarantee you that it will be worth that much.

This is a 3k car with the suspension and k1's. I have about 10k in my 87 eta and I am LUCKY to get 4k out of it. The last 1k I have spent I will not see back, so realistically I am getting 3k... I highly doubt your car is better sorted than mine.

I welcome you to drive down and meet up on my time to see which car is better sorted.

          Otherwise, I won't humor you.

Thank you. Finally someone who is able to look at the market and not get personal about a car.

I have no issues with keeping the car. But it is for sale at the price and range I have given.

In the end it will only appreciate.

              Understood,

However, you can't make that argument that my car isn't anything special without ever seeing it. Everyone who has seen it has agreed with my price range. And those that don't have unrealistic expectations

This isn't your average;y kept E30. and I will leave it at that. the rest are just presumptions.

In a few years this car will fetch more than 6k. At the rate these cars are being jerry rigged, and drifted into parking lot poles...

I have enjoyed it for 25k miles and my first E30 experience. It was a great one. But knowing the value of the car. I have decided to part with and bought myself an average condition e30 that will never appreciate or depreciate for that matter to enjoy and not feel bad about if anything happens to it ( door dings, rear ended etc) while still retaining the E30 fun factor

Bingo. Not the swap-happy, drift-missile crowd that measures value in SICK MODS, BRAH.

It is normal to heckle on the FS forum, take it in stride. I am, however, puzzled by this statement of yours:

I have enjoyed it for 25k miles and my first E30 experience. It was a great one. But knowing the value of the car. I have decided to part with and bought myself an average condition e30 that will never appreciate or depreciate
You already have one that will never appreciate, these cars are basically fully depreciated no matter what condition they are in save for a few survivor examples that were bought and then garaged as some kind of ridiculous '80s time capsule experiment by misguided people with too little fun in their lives. Yours has 153K miles, it's not a collector's item at this point. BMW built over 100,000 units of that same car. Plus, it's an ETA.

Are you BMWCCA member? If so, I recommend you put it on their classifieds to tap more enthusiasts, or better yet keep it and drive it ten more years.

Car is clean. Good luck with the sale.

BTW there is a metal cover that goes over that tank vent line behind the right rear shock, without it the shock can rub through the vent line. Just a random observation. 16 13 1 179 011

                        Thanks,

I do have it. Just took off to clean the debris out of the cover.
