What you are getting at? The beauty cover is wrong. I know this. The car has a OBD1 valve cover b/c it is an OBD1 conversion. A must do when making the car California legal.

I am curious however (I also have an OBD1 converted S52) why is this a "must do" for California?

California requires you to take your car to the BAR (bureau of automotive repair) when you swap engines if you want them to be street legal in CA. They want to make sure all of the smog equipment hasnt been tampered with, so going OBD1 vs OBD2 makes that list of smog equipment much smaller.
