Malachite green Euro 318i s50 swap value?

Was hoping for some advice, if this isn't the right place, let me know!

I have a line on an 86' 318i coupe. It's a legit euro car with manual steering, slick top, no A/C or P/S and has an s50 swap in it. Perhaps more interestingly, it's in malachite green! It's very much a driving car, but cosmetically it's more like a twenty footer.

The problem is, I ran the carfax and apparently it failed emissions back in Feb. Current owner says emissions aren't required in his county and he's reluctant to get into it. What would this car be worth if it couldn't pass and I had to resell it?

Hard to say without photos and without knowing if the swap was done properly, but if the mechanical aspects are sorted, maybe seven grand?

that's it? i thought s50 swaps tended to go for at least 9k or so. figured the rare color and euro would only do me better.

No that's not it, I said at the very beginning of my post that it is hard to say without seeing photos first?

The car looks pretty clean so that's definitely a plus and you may be right about it being closer to 9k, but I am not sure many buyers will value the European heritage of the car - especially the manual steering and lack of AC - because it's been pretty modified and therefore isn't collectible.

Good luck with the purchase, I personally think you should just figure out and fix the emissions issue if you like the car, usually you can find a shop that will pass you or get it registered in a county that doesn't care, just my personal opinion.

Doesn't get much lighter than a euro 316i/318i and Malachite green is a love it or hate it color. You could hit 5 figures if it's clean and everything is order. Just depends on finding the right buyer.

No? Could've sworn that was pretty normal.

They typically cost $9k+ if/when done properly, but not many sell for that kind of money.

My buddy sold a slightly hail damaged non euro car but had euro bumpers with working ac and s52 swap for 12 grand. It was kind of rusty too. That was like 2 years ago i believe.
