    Feeler: Track ready e30 1990 325i

EDIT: Car is no longer for sale.

I am building a better e30 and this one is going to be donating some of its vital parts. Be on the lookout for sales of some of the equipment from this one.

    Here's the Specs:

    1990 325i 4 Door
    SterlingSilber Metallic
    187k on the chassis.
5 Speed - Clutch still decent
    3.73 Limited Slip Differential

    Suspension/Brakes:
Ground Control Coilovers - 475/475 spring rates
Koni top adjustable shocks in front - the GC "shorty" ones.
    Bilsteins in the Rear.
Ireland Engineering Race Camber Plates in Front
    Fairly New Front Hub/wheel bearings
    ATE PowerSlot Front Rotors
    Brembo OE replacement rears
Hawk HP+ pads on all corners, will come with an extra set of HP+ fronts and a set of Axxis Ultimate Rears as spares.
Comes also with an extra set of front and rear calipers.
Stainless Steel Brake Lines (I think from Turner Motorsport)
Treehouse Racing front Control Arm Bushings
Newer Front Control Arms and Tierods.
All front suspension components have 2k miles or LESS on them.
Good Condition OE Rubber subframe and trialing arm bushings, but car will come with a spare rear subframe with IE Urethane bushings installed, and with IE urethane rear trailng arm bushings. Can include spare pair of trailing arms as well.
    Sparco M3 Strut Brace

    Interior:
Was a Grey cloth interior, but the seats are all out and the fronts replaced with Corbeau Forzas wrapped in M-Tech Cloth.
Kirk Racing 4 Point Roll Bar installed with the good SFI rated padding - not that pool noodle looking crap.
Driver Side has a Schroth 5 point harness
    Passenger side has a Sparco/Sabelt 5 point.
Crack Free Dash in excellent shape.
Will Come with a stock steering wheel and a Momo Hub - I am keeping the wheel I have and the quick release.
Will include the stock seat belts, but they are currently out of the car.
I have a tan vinyl rear seat that I will include if wanted.
Stock Cassette PLayer works well. All stock speakers work well.
Newer OE Leather Shift Knob with Roundel
Car Art unlimited Leather Shift and E-Brake boots.
    Alpina Dead Pedal.

    Body
Its a track car, and its a 50 footer for sure, maybe even a 20 footer.
Has some rust on the rear passenger wheel well. Also a spot on the rear valance and the trunk below the battery tray.
Bumpers and the Driver Side fender are painted to match in Sterling Silver, but they were done by me - not professionally.
Hood and Trunk have some dings in them, but I will include rust free spares that you could have re-sprayed to match.

Comes with Hella H1 Lights, Euro Grilles and both black and silver Kidneys.

    Engine
    Here's the Bad Part.
While I tried as best to care for it during my ownership, it has developed a rod knock. I have a bottom end available to me that I will include for the asking price below. If the car does not sell, I'll get this fixed, and the price will go up accordingly.
    Valves adjusted two months ago.
Timing Belt Water pump, etc have only 3k miles on them.
Magnecor Silicone Plug Wires, brand new, uninstalled, will be included.
Extensive spares to be inlcluded including starter, alternator, coil, cap and rotor, spark plugs and much more.
Spare oil pan included as well.

Also included - AKG urethane engine and tranny mounts.

I have a couple of shelves full of other e30 spares - all will be included with the car.

Car will come either on a set of black centered basket weaves on some hodge-podge all season tires, or a set of nice bottlecaps on Falken Ziex 512s.

I would consider selling the BBS wheels with the R-Compounds with it to an interested party.

I am located 10 miles South of Cincinnati, OH. Willing to help arrange delivery at buyer's cost.

My thoughts on an asking price?

$2800 (fairly firm) as it is. If I do the engine repair, look for the price to go up by about a grand, perhaps more.

Wow, what a deal. Whats going to replace it?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Lets put it this way - I still plan on Spec___________. (Fill in the blank).

SpecE30 is my first choice, but the lack of cars in this region so far is a little discouraging. There is a Miata within an hour of me that is about 60% complete - guy has it caged, driveline is good - just needs suspension, safety equipment and paint and its ready to go. His financial situation has put the screws on his plans.

I am mulling that over as a serious option.

                Boooo.

There are more than a few cars being built in you area, plus you've got nationals in your backyard. Build it and they will come. The MA was the first region around and they are fielding nearly 30 car fields.

The SE region had only about 5-6 per race last year and they just fielded over 20 for Roebling. Hell, we had 9 at Rockingham last time and no one likes to race there.

But hey, if you want to race a girl car. . . . don't forget your lipstick, precious!

                    A girl car, eh?

                    Like Laura Patton's girl car?

Is it the main bearing that are making the knock? If so, can't you just replace them from beneath without even pulling the motor?

Don't give up. Hell, just buy a junkyard motor for $600 and put that in.

I haven't opened it up yet to see. If that is the case, then I'd be thrilled.

Even if its not and I need to replace the bottom end, I have one lined up.

I am leaning towards pulling this feeler. I think it was the frustration talking.
