I think the catalytic converter equipped US spec ones made in the area of 130 horsepower while the Euro versions made 170. I don't think that parts are exactly plentiful as there was only a three year production run. I do know for a fact that a company called the "DeLorean Motor Company" bought out everything from the old factory where they were produced in Northern Ireland. I believe they are located somewhere in Texas.

Engine parts are VERY plentyfull .
The Delorean uses the "PRV" engine that Peugot, Renault and Volvo shared for years .

Here in the US all of the volvo 6cyl 200 and 700 series cars used that same engine .

Interesting, did not know that. I wonder is they're related. I could have sworn I read somewhere that there was a network of some sort for these vehicles.

Yup, I retract my comment, you sir are correct. I knew that the engine was outsourced and was a Renault/Peugot/Volvo venture, it just never occured to me to think of the possibilities of the engine existing in different forms here in the states. Good catch.

You sir are also correct. The car has brushed stainless steel panels not aluminum, just had a momentary mental lapse there. Probably has to do with my thoughts of toying around with an aluminum M52 swap, those thoughts are starting to permeate. Good catch.

Interesting nonetheless. Perhaps they are a restoration outfit much like the one in Texas.

Does it really take 10 minutes to hit 88 like in the movie?

With that engine, probably. Apparently, if they had continued to make them, there was slated to be a twin-turbo V6 making like 300 hp. That would have been badass. I would still love to have one. A friend of mine got one as a graduation present in high school. He actually got vanity plates for it too, that read, yes you guessed it... OUTATIME.
