The time has come to trim the collection back a bit. At my house we currently have 4 E30’s, an E39 and a Toyota Sienna. Since the only person in the house besides me or my wife is 15 months old, we’re clearly a bit overstocked on vehicles.
The first car for sale is an ’88 325is automatic. It has 194k on the clock and sat for 3+ years before I bought it. The plan was to fix it up with my wife’s little brother Josh and give it to him for his birthday for his first car. We limped it home on 5 cylinders and gave it a complete tune-up.
In the next few months, we did a lot to the car, including:
New iS lip and clips
New OEM brakes and pads
Replaced all bulbs in fogs and ellipsoids
Swapped out interior for better condition sport seats
New plugs, OEM wires (from my cabrio)
Eibach springs/KYB shocks
Bosal catback exhaust
Pioneer Premier head unit (from my cabrio)
TSW 16” Hockenheim R wheels (from my cabrio)
Painted grills and kidney with SEM trim paint
Repainted moldings with SEM trim paint
Shadowline trim with SEM trim paint
Repainted iS trunk spoiler with SEM trim paint
Repainted all lower panels with rubberized black paint
Long story made short, Josh was bitten by the 5 speed bug and so the plan changed. We looked into swapping a 5 speed into this car, but ultimately we stumbled upon another 5 speed car that will be a fun project.
Cosmetically, this car is very straight with a few minor dings, with the exception of the hood which the PO’s kids used for practicing their hood slides. I have a new roundel on order for the trunk since I busted a pin when I removed the one on it. Our plan was to swap a good hood on eventually. The only thing it needs is rear wheel bearings, which aren’t an immediate thing but get noisy above 50mph.
Pros:
Lots of new stuff
Straight body
Cons:
Wheel bearings
Coolant sensor in reservoir (stays lit on check panel even though level is correct)

Asking $1800/obo.
The second car will be in the next post.
