In CA the DMV has a form 227 for "lost title". As long as you have a current registration, in your name, this form can be used for transfer (new owner) & issue a new title in new owners name. It's no hassle at all. Read his post - he just wanted it to go away with no hassle & that happened.

I have bought a e30 before without a title and I didn't have any problems whatsoever...

The DMV has Title less transfer's. As long as they are notarized, it's just as good as a pink slip.

I just do not overall have the time to go down to the DMV, then wait weeks upon weeks for the duplicate. That's what I am trying to avoid, but it seems I am going to have too!!

I was thinking of parting it, but that would take too long and I don't have the tools for it.
