For sale 1991 bmw 318 is

We're selling our 318 is. it's a 5-speed manual transmission. the body and interior are in very good condition. i couldn't figure out how to attach a photo, but if you'd like to see, leave me your e-mail and i'll send it to you. there has been a lot of work done to the car. we bought it i year ago. it has roughly 230,000 miles on the car. about 120,000 miles on the motor. when we bought it, we had the motor put in, along with: the radiator, hoses, starter, water pump, power steering pump.....and many other parts. before we bought it, the clutch and transmission were replaced. since we've bought it, i've replaced the battery, both ground straps, the pc board for the instrument cluster, wiper fluid pump.....the list goes on. everything is documented. recently we found out there was a leak in the head gasket. we had a leak down test done and it's leaking from a coolant passage by the number 2 cylinder. all cylinders still have good compression. we can't afford to replace the parts in the motor or the motor itself. we're asking $2700 o.b.o. let me know if you're interested or have any questions.

LOL, the question then will be where will the gasoline come from to run the car?

              j/k

I'm not trying to piss on your thread, but I think the asking price is just way too high. With a cracked head, the car really isn't worth more than half of what you are asking.
Depending on how much you do yourself, the job could cost well over 2 grand.

M42 heads are prone to cracking and good ones are getting really hard to find, and you HAVE to have them tested. You'd be silly to go through all that trouble without doing a valve job and then the state of the lifters is also in question. Considering the cost of whatever head you find, you will be in the range of 1,000 - 1,300 parts & labor to get to a good place with the head. Add labor, gaskets, tensioner, etc. plus any guide rails, sprockets, hoses, spark plugs and such and you will easily be up over $5,000 with your asking price and thats for essentially a stock car. Nicely mod'd out e30's are selling for way less than that right now. More pictures would help your cause, but I just think you will likely be dissapointed by the responses or lack of them at that price.

If you'd be willing to facilitate shipping by dropping it off at a shipping location, I could make you a reasonable offer. But I would have to see more pics of the paint and interior.

Yeah, thats me kicking up all that dirt!
