i didnt know they made anything below 2.93. what car is this out of?

'84 325e. Not sure if it's original to the car though (189,000 miles). When I pulled the tranny it had junk yard markings on the top side that said " '86 325es ". Same with the driveshaft. Both of which are for sale, by the way ;)

afaik, an 86 325es has a 2.93. correct me if im wrong.

Probably original then. Real clean looking all in all and as said above, I drove it for next to 20,000 miles and never had a single whine or any noise out of it. No play anywhere and it spins freely.

My '85 325e has a limited slip diff. My guess is that it's this one?

It very well might be. Poke your head behind the rear tire and take a look at the little tag. If it says S2.79 it's the same ;)

I don't think so, but Wishno might be making his way up to make a transaction with me. Not sure if you trust your money in others hands or how it would work... my wife's baby sister (5 years old) is in the hospital with a pretty serious brain tumor, so I'm sticking as close to home/Seattle Children's as possible.
