I've driven across the border more than once (both ways) with motors, sparco seats, interiors, you name it. As long as the value is not too high (motors blown maybe......) they don't care. Maybe its just because I'm from S.E MI and they don't care.... who knows.

Where are you located? South west Florida? I have never heard about you, what's your business name?FWIW,
and I know that very few of you know who I am or was when it comes to Euro parts, but pre-911, I was bringing in more toys than you know boys.
in 2000, I brought in a total of 39,000lbs of parts from Germany, Italy, France and UK...
from these Motors to E28 Mtech kits, to S38B38 to a dozen hardtops and everything and anything, I pretty much had it at one time...
I have supplied many of the SE engine builders (at that time) with the euro b32's either directly or indirectly..as well as some cali builder's....
I was a known shipper and had it worked out...
I had one of the first if not the first IX tourings stateside...Comment

I had my s50b32 shipped from London to California with no issues about two or three years ago. The motor was completely assembled and came with all parts including the transmission. I don't see why you're saying it would be easier to split the motor up and drive it across. Just ship it over.one thing that you are not mentioning is that the easiest way to get this motor into this country is driving into Canada and installing it in the car then drive it back into the country...
Complete motors are just like cars here in the US,
Customs will ask if this motor was available here, if you lie and say yes,
you are taking a chance because if they run the VIN then they will confiscate it for lying....
you can say it is for racing purposes but they tend to not believe it,,,
if you seperate the top end from the bottom end,
you stand a better chance getting it in but pay for twice the shipping...
it's not just a ship it to me process,
there is customs, a broker agent, and taxes involved all with seperate fees....
the fool proof way is to drive across and install it,
the second is driving across and pick it up and hope that the agents at the border don't ask,
the third is seperating it and shipping it in two different containers at two different times..
US is tough on this type stuff...
some make it through, some don't and that needs to be mentioned...
Research it....
