    FS (RI): M42 Needs maintenance, good compression, local pickup - $100

    I'm hoping to have for sale soon an M42 out of a 91 318i. It has 206k on the clock and needs new guide rails for the timing chain. The valve cover gasket must be replaced as well as it leaks a bit of oil into the spark plug tubes.

    Compression numbers where cylinder 1 is most forward on the engine

    #1) 210 psi and holds

    #2) 200 psi but dropped to 195 psi and holds

    #3) 200 psi holds

    #4) 210 psi but dropped to 206 psi and holds


    The motor runs rough due to a suspected vacuum leak.


    Asking $100 for the motor, wiring, DME

    Time-frame about two weeks. Local pickup only.

        prefer to sell it whole, but if no one is biting the theres no sense in not parting if you need a particular item.

        what did you have in mind?

        (hasn't been pulled yet but just gathering interest for now)

            what is your time table? If someone comes along and wants the motor, I might give them priority because it would save me the hassle of splitting/storing/shipping, but if we can figure out a shipping arrangement (and i find a big enough box) i'll be glad to send it your way given enough time and not a high priority

                Thats much cleaner than this motor and on west coast too!

                But if cost is factor i'm sure we can figure something out as i'm practically giving this motor away.

                        Motor + wiring + dme is coming out this weekend (i need to keep the DME bracket..and am reusing the g240)
