      you got it dude!

hank, holy frick on the sig. someone ate their wheaties. i'm thinking about buying some sheets of laminx and coloring them, but for now, only clear. they are as perceptible to rocks as and front end piece...a big rock will probably wipe it out though.

A big rock will wipe it out. So will a small one. A dirty look will wipe them out.

These are indoor-overhead flourescent lighting covers cut to fit. They do not have a seal around them, nor do they have ridge on the underside to fit into the locations for the stock lenses. One good rainstorm or puddle, and you will have a turn signal full of water, which will corrode the contacts and rust the components. They are also not UV protected. They will yellow within a matter of months, and crack under very minimal temperature changes.

I can understand someone wanting to do this for a cheap "for looks" mod, hell, I even tried it myself when it first got big. But trying to make and sell them is ridiculous. I'm really not trying to come across as a dick here or try to ruin your attempt to make some cash, but people need to know that these are going to hold up to anything. This material is brittle as hell and will yellow, crack and break with very little effort.

thank you sir for that thread dump. i'll just say that it's been rainy here the past month and i have not had any problems in terms of being filled up with water. they have been on my car for a little over 1000 miles now, and the pictures i have of them are from within the last week. i'll admit that they aren't the strongest quality, but i never denied it either from the start. they're not supposed to last the life of the car, but i should expect a minimum of a year under reasonable conditions. for $10 it's exactly what i have advertised it as, a cheap mod. i appreciate the thread shitting, but the time it takes me to make these to fit exactly is almost not worth what i am selling them for. so in response, no - i'm not trying to make a quick buck.

You're quite welcome. I don't consider it thread shitting when it's telling people what they actually are and what they can expect from them.

Maybe I don't know enough about lenses and such but I honestly don't see anything here that laminex can't fix besides fitment. I actually suggested this to him and hes weighing the costs. For $10 bucks though, I'm willing to give it a go. And if they suck, the time I had with them would be sufficient till I could save up for the real thing.

              Thats just me though...

in response to mr. anderson's kind criticism i will cover the front of each lens in uv-laminate and custom fab a gasket as well at no extra cost to show my good faith.

however, this will put me back at least a week.
