Is there something I'm missing here? Wouldn't you want the bolt to be as close to the exact thickness of the spacer + 24mm as possible? That way it threads into the hub the exact amount that the factory bolt did?

Not all the time becuase the wheel pads, or meat of the wheel that is between the bolt and wheel hub, varies between wheel manufacturers and can range from 9mm-15mm thick. Even your factory bolts would vary in depth depending on the different wheels you are installing so its always prudent to get a little bit longer to compensate for that.

The other alternative is to go with my wheel studs. They will always thread in the same depth into your hub. For your application, I have some new, stronger than US grade, TUV approved 80mm studs. This way, it would be easier to swap wheels and you wouldnt have to worry about the thread depth. PM me if you are interested in those.

I understand that, so that makes it even more curious to me why a "chart" like that would exist.

                      10mm Spacers - 37mm bolts
                      12mm Spacers - 37mm bolts

I don't really see the logic behind that...

Its just more of a general point of refrence. I can narrow it down so it applies directly with my studs/bolts, as a matter of fact I may do that.

This is the reason whys stud conversions are superior. Because the part that threads into the hub remains constant regardless of the stud length.

BTW, im just bumping an old thread :)
