Might want to elaborate that you ordered a set of vdos when you have a motometer set. We also offered you a full refund on paypal dispute you opened for all of your troubles.

Not sure what exactly happened on the shipping, as most said, they get they're gears within one week. So as we said we apologize for that and will refund you your money. No sure what else we can do.

My odo hasn't worked for YEARS and will definitely order a set when

So what breaks these things? Resetting while the car is moving?
Will these gears break too given time or whatever it is that breaks those gears?

Resetting while the car is moving will cause increased stress, but the short version is simply that age causes the plastic (almost any plastic) to become brittle. Brittle teeth strip and that's all she wrote. I *suspect* that acetal with the thicker pinion gear (there is no brass bushing after all) will last a reasonable amount of time, that is 10+ years. Wikipedia tells us about degradation: Acetal resins are sensitive to acid hydrolysis and oxidation by such agents as mineral acids and chlorine [...], which should not be a factor inside an E30 dash. For reference, BTW, the first commercial name of acetal was Delrin (R).
