      op or anybody else that knows, will this work with a e36 steering rack? i have the AKG e36 steering rack mounting kit on my car and was just wondering if the hardware included would be long enough to reach with these spacers or if it makes a difference at all.

          I am really sorry but I can`t confirm that it will fit. Maybe anyone else? The bolts which are included in hardware set are 100 mm long (original ones are 87 mm). Spacers which are included in set are just for adjusting the gap between the oil pan and skid plate. You don`t probably have to use all of them (if any) when you fit it with e30 steering rack. If the e36 steering rack is not more behind than original one then I don`t see any problems. But I can`t confirm as I never tried.

            I did not use any spacers, this was just a test fit; and it fits beautifully under the M50 as you can see from the pics. A couple spacers and it will clear no problem. I'm putting the M5 mounts in to clearance something else anyways.

            I'm running a Z3 rack, it doesn't make any difference. I'm also running the E36 power steering lines that run the length of the rack and it all fits great!

                I prefer that all who really want to purchase it will send me pm with paypal account request. This is to prevent overselling as I don`t have many left in stock and I`m not sure if I will be manufacturing more of them as the interest is pretty low at the moment.

                    Okay, since nobody has one installed on an M20 with pictures or results, I'll take one. I have PayPal- I sent you the info via email.

                    Send me a payment request and we can get the ball rolling.

                    I'll have it bolted on my rallycross car within a couple days of receiving it and will run it through my normal rallycross part test course and report back. People cited concerns about it grinding off, which may well be a concern on pavement or asphalt, but on dirt I don't have that risk. Plus my car is LIFTED (stock springs but extra weight removed) so it 1) isn't going to scrape on the road and, 2) will be good to not re-add weight that I am trying to remove.

                      OP, nice plates.

                      btw, for the Americans here, the tensile strength of his material converts to about 23 ksi, so if it's saltwater-resistant it's probably some kind of 5086 maritime aluminum (just a guess that may or may not help anyone). So you can do your calculations based on the thickness if you so desire.

                      One thought: out of curiosity, why do everyone's skids mount to the steering rack bolts in the back? My skid mounts directly to the front subframe using the two existing holes that go all the way through (slightly enlarged). This also avoids needing the double-bend at the rear end of the plate (mine just goes flat and uses a 1/2" spacer between the plate and the subframe).

                      Just curious, as it seems that the subframe mount requires less bends and is attached to a stronger component.

                        Yes the material is from 5 series but not exactly 5086. Aluminum grade which I use has more magnesium in it than 5086 plus it is tempered.
                        I didn`t even bother myself to answer to this earlier comment which one guy made about aluminum grinding off faster. It seems that this guy doesn`t know anything about metal. He made his assumption without knowing what grade I use and without researching how many aluminum grades with different properties there are available out there. He also didn`t take in account that my plate has additional 2 mm of thickness and is a solid piece without cutouts.
                        Regarding the mounting solution my first skid plate was also mounted to front subframe. The problem with this was that the bolt heads were grinding off pretty fast and if you didn`t replace them on right time it caused nasty things as happened to me :D The other thing was that all bends on this plate act as a corrugation and this gives it more stiffness. If you now lengthen this straight area there to reach the subframe it loses a bit of it. I was actually consulting long time with my friend who works as an engineer in our company. And in the end this was the best solution in our opinion regarding the strength and ease of installation.

                        What makes me wonder is that people are ready to pay so much for raceskid plates. I could manufacture them from usual 10 gauge steel in my company for less than 30 bucks :) I understand the research and development and making the prototypes thingy (it takes time and effort) but still... :roll:

                          If it had a hole for the oil drain I would be interested but I'm too lazy to have to take it off each time
