well i got impatient & installed my plate last night before i headed out to the fair. & once i got it all bolted up did my little mcgyver method of lowering my car off the jack stands using multiple pieces of wood under the tires side its too low for my jack to fit under. well after it rolled down to the driveway i didn't look how low the plate sat once i was *** since it was dark ad i was i a hurry. although o its test drive to the fair i did hear it scrape a lot, like under braking it would scrape! so i stopped ad looked udder & realized i only have about 13mm of clearance to the ground from the plate! need to do some adjustments STAT!

well i removed all the washers i was using as spacers except 2 on each front rad support mounting bolt and now it has better ground clearance, about 3 fingers and the pan still has plenty of clearance to the skidplate as well. it seems like if you use all the spacers included witht he hardware you could clear pretty much any oilpan you might have, just for those of us with verry little oil pan to ground clearance it is necessary to run as few washers as possible to minimize the loss of ground clearance. my car is lowered with Eibach pro-kit springs and e90 drop hats in the front and it is LOOOOW, lower than vertvertverts JOM coilover kit vert and his is almost all the way down.

                    Here are some pictures.
                    These pictures are without spacers.
I'd recommend using spacers if you have an oil drain quick valve.

Sorry guys but I am currently out of stock. However I am concidering to make new batch if there would be enough demand. They should be ready within 3 weeks. Just let me know who is still interested in those.

                      Regards,
                      Andres

I had pretty good ground clearance...at least as good as could be expected with ANY skid plate.

Obviously on ramps in the pictures, but you can't add a skid plate and have MORE ground clearance than without. At best, take your current clearance (@ the oil pan's lowest point) and subtract 3/4" from that- probably more like an inch.

If that is not enough, maybe think about the vehicle height before doing any more mods.

hahaha.. not an option, just going to go with some motor mount spacers to lift the pan up a bit then run the skid plate.

it looks like if there is a way to push the skid plate up a bit, i can get more ground clearance, and thats what i need. i dont think i'll be hitting anything hard enough to blow out the plate, eliminate the clearance and smash the pan, if i do i'll think about going higher..

thanks for the pics though. helps to get other peoples experiences from this before i dive in.

My last e30 ('88 325 with a 327i) was lowered on H&Rs and on 205/50/15s. By comparison, this one is lifted as much as possible through weight reduction and will be on 185/70/14 rubber come this weekend.

I'll snag a couple more pictures of the on-the-ground- clearance tonight with the car still on stock rubber.

In looking at the design and the angles, there might be another 7-10mm of clearance there if the main bend was opened up slightly. You can't get much more clearance at the rear neer the steering rack, but in the front you could still sit tight to the radiator support with a lesser bend, thus bringing up the lowest point by a little bit.

The negative is less "give" room in the event of an impact. I don't need all of the clearance, so i am good as it is.

Those slots for the front bolts will work against you on impact
