    Both of these clusters are VDO (as opposed to the motometer, that is important), The early model does not have the clip at the bottom right side. The late model does. I am not sure when the switch was made, but I believe it was between the 86 and 87 model year. Check to see which you have because from what I understand they are not interchangeable. You also must swap motometer with motometer, and VDO for VDO as they too are not interchangeable.

          How much would it take to get my hands on just the speedometer from the early model cluster?

            Since it would effectively be parting out my whole spedometer I would probably need like $40+ship for it. Without it I basically just have a shell.
