I had a factory carpet set - foam and all - sent to me from Seattle in a big ol box - cost $50 via UPS.
It's not that bad guys. Just finding a box big enough...Comment

At this point, I would want a black padded carpet, and a black unpadded carpet (if you could make that an option)
The black unpadded carpet would be for my track car. I'd like some kind of carpet in it, but I don't want it to weigh much.Michael Spiegle

Black unpadded would obviously be a lot cheaper and easier. I'm hoping Devon picks up some of this carpeting soon so he can start test fitting it his parts car.
As for me, I want to chime in on this project, but I may be out of Arizona for good next semester, so I'm not useful. I would like to start making ABS shields for intakes since I have access to a shit load of cars.Comment

Hopefully this weekend I can pick up enough to do one or two cars, then report back with pics and show what we'd be working with.Comment

Just for the record, when I parted out a totaled '89 325i a couple years ago the complete factory carpet (with foam backing intact) weighed about 43 or 44 pounds. I was able to remove everything in one piece with the exception for the small patch under the heatercore (roughly one square foot). It wouldn't budge so I ran an Exact-o blade around the edges of said heatercore prior to removal.Originally posted by permitWe'd try our best to make it rather light in weight.
I eventually found a buyer for this carpet. From my location in Nor*Cal to this guys place just outside Chicago, the shipping cost ~$45 via UPS Ground. And yes, with the foam backing, it was a bulky mo-fo to box up. Perhaps package & ship the carpet and foam separately? Might make for more compact packaging.

I think $45-50 is perfectly acceptable for shipping something like this - worth keeping the foam and carpet in one piece too. I had a factory carpet shipped to me from Seattle (I'm in MA) and it was $50. I'd pay it again, over and over.Originally posted by Jon325iJust for the record, when I parted out a totaled '89 325i a couple years ago the complete factory carpet (with foam backing intact) weighed about 43 or 44 pounds. Should be, Jeremy may not be able to help out but in the next day or so I'll be test fitting and atleast getting one car with a carpet. I'll keep you guys updated. Only real problem would be some people may see that the carpet isn't identical to OE and not want any after figuring things like that. So I'll try to get an example or two first.Comment
