if you want to get more money for it then swap it. when i say swap it. mean, take the guts out of the m30 AMF then swap in a late model I AMF's guts. then bam worth more
How much more would someone be willing to pay for one that's ready. I don't mind doing it myself but it has to be worth the time and effort to grab another afm from an m20.
I would advise away from disassembling any AFM unless you have equipment to laser calibrate it to the fine tolerance that Bosch originally did. You'll want to maintain that tight tolerance, which is the relationship between flap angle and voltage output.
I consider any AFM to be "bad" unless it has been electrically refurbished recently. You can check out my thread for more info and pics.

Thanks for the info. I will be reaching out to you soon. I'm local in Oakland.
Will an m30 afm work on an m20 with just calibration? Or do the internals have to be swapped?

I work in Berkeley so we can meet up. I'll give you a better price since we dont have to ship.
M30 should be a direct swap (electrically,) I believe they are both linear output in relation to flap angle. However the opening diameter is slightly larger, thus increased air flow.
I've heard many people say swapping to the M30 AFM does not much much difference. I would advise sticking with a rebuilt AFM, M20 or M30 should not matter much. If you are really driving for performance, and every possible amount of it, rebuilt and use the M30 in your car. However, you will not see much difference vs the M20 AFM.
