I would give you a more than fair price on the re-spray. :-) But yeah, after doing a little research on this matter with the rack up top $1,500 is a little on the cheaper side. If I were to re-spray it I'd need a deposit on the top itself. Let me know, you're only 3 hours down 74 away from us.Comment

Me ? That zinno car is mine so I already have one, but I have friends who ask me all the time so I stay alert. Like I said I have a friend with a matching (and rather rare) Navy cabrio so he is your ideal buyer but he is not spending that kind of money plus a repaint.
I dont know how much work it is to strip the vinyl and prep one of these (a bunch I am sure) so for someone who just has to have a painted top yours may be the right place to start since thats already done.
I paid $1000 for mine with a stand and OE cover and it spent most of its life on the stand in a garage. I re-glued the headliner and touched up a nick and its good to go. This seems to be in line with pretty much all of the ones I see offered.
Much of it is geographical obviously since these dont ship well so its luck of the draw. There's a forum member in Toronto selling 4 for $1000@ if you feel like driving to Canada.lol
FWIW Hendrik BMW just built a brand new facility here and when they cleaned out the old one, they put a brand new (as in NIB) top in the trash...right...the garbage...and a tech grabbed it and sold it on CL for $800. THATS the kind of luck I like :-)Seat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. Email John or Garrett at ninestitch1@gmail.com

That top has been modified extensively. I'm inclined to believe that all hard tops came in black vinyl only. Yours has obviously been stripped and the sail panel contour filled and resprayed.
Also that roof rack is nowhere near oem. Oem hardtop roof racks are rarer than unicorn jizz as I've heard it eloquently put before. Coincidentally I have one for sale. See my sig.
Not to thread crap but I'd be wary of this top and especially how is rack is mounted. Permanent or removable? Also looks like a substandard headliner job at some point. The original should have oh shit handles for the front and back passengers.
Glws man! These sure do look good painted
On further inspection the top looks to have been completely filled and painted and the rack mounted in non oem locations meaning holes must have been drilled into the fiberglass composite.
The gutters serve the purpose of drainage with rain or w/e much like the elephant ears on the sedans and coupes. That also looks like non oem rear glass. My guess is someone replaced the oem unit for something they could make fit. It looks professional definitely but the oem glass has been nla forever so I could see why they'd want to save the top and just use different glass that works.Last edited by PaladinReed; 12-07-2012, 09:01 PM.Late model granitesilber 325i convertible FS:

Thanks for your input... Wow, it is really misguided. You seem to have learned a lot about body/fiberglass work by trolling forums. That top has been modified extensively. My cousin has been driving around with this thing since 95 it does not leak and I can assure it came this way. Saturday bump.

makes the factory hardtop look bad, well sort of anyway.
i was almost sure it wasnt a factory top , as description said, i was just making sure.
i didnt know if it was a kit and i tried but did see anything ;)'...rolling balls, i'm elated, i'm going dumb now; drinking liquor i'm faded and having fun now; loaded gun and tripping with everyone around; keep me stuck in the sky, i never wanna come down...'...kaboshOriginally posted by der affeWhat are you going to start a thread about next?
