    Glass sunroof/moonroof VA

Like the title says. I would call it 7/10 condition. No cracks, but it does have a few scratches on the outside with one of them being pretty long, and the black trim stuff around the edge is peeling in a few places. The sunroof seal is still on the glass, but it is falling off and I doubt it still keeps water out (not sure, car has no windshield so it was tarped.)

Kinda close up of the major scratch

This was the problem I had removing it. I could not get this nut off because the entire bolt spins, and there is no way (that I know of) to hold the other end. I tried prying on it while I was turning the nut, and got it halfway off before I figured out I could just take the whole bracket off. I don't know if the brackets are specific to the moonroof or not. The bracket did get bent from prying on it, but it will still mount tight with the other nut on it.

I forgot about this issue when I posted the ad, so I will set the price at $350 for the glass and the two brackets only, and leave it up to you to make it fit. Local pick up only for now. For $450, you can remove the entire cassette from the car as well. I hooked up a battery to the car to try to open the sunroof and it didn't work. I didn't hear the motor, so it could be that, it could be wiring, who knows. The sun shade is will need some work. The cloth is peeling and is stained on the sides from water leaks. Might be salvageable, but I don't know.

I don't know why the cloth looks like it has a design in the pictures, but it doesn't have it in person.

    Never seen this switch before.

The wires from the switch go to this box before going back to the motor. Like I said, could be a wiring issue.

Prices again are $350 for the glass and brackets or $450 for the whole cassette picked up in Harrisonburg VA

I'm mostly looking for cash, but it doesn't hurt to offer. I would be more interested in trades plus cash on your end but who knows, maybe you have something that I haven't figured out I need yet

I BELIEVE you can attach the glass panel like a normal sunroof panel, but I'm not positive. This is the only sunroof I have ever removed, so I don't have anything to compare it to. If anyone who has used one has any insight on installation it would be appreciated. I will PM you a shipping quote tomorrow. Bed time here on the east coast.

                Oh shit! You're in Hburg?

I've got all this shit to run a glass roof, but no roof (my e30 had a metal pan RTV'd in after the glass one broke).

                Ugh....worst timing for me.

                    Free bump for you.

I don't think that's OEM glass. Post a full pic of the mounting tabs and a closeup of the etched mark (sekurit or sigla along with a roundel) on the glass. Also, there should be a serial number tag adjacent to the left mount.

I pulled my moonroof from a parts car and all bracketry was identical to the metal panel. There was also a bow that ran behind the glass to retract the shade.

Either way, good luck with the sale.

Edit: shade looks different also, it has no stitch lines in it and the handle is incorrect.

I'd bet this was an aftermarket retrofit of some kind. Was this car a late model? Maybe it was originally a slicktop?

Yeah – some flags jumped out for me also..

According to light research, asc was one of the “official” US supplier for dealers on these parts.
I’m gathering that kits came with hardware allowing slider modifications to existing brackets and “sunshade” panel.

The asc electrics and switchwear would be fun “original” equipment to have with the kit – but not something I think I’d want to install.

I do want to express keen interest in this – but only if complete in needed parts. Like it can be ragged as fu#k, so long as I can refurbish available parts.

                      Complete per my research includes:
                      -Glass section
                      -Sliding sunshade
-Brackets and moonroof-specific bumper pad and side hooks for springs
                      These parts:

The indicated scratch would incline me to negotiate price also..

                      (but still quite interested)
(sweet jesus - my zen car wants a glass roof desperately)

I can remove and include the parts posted by Simon S for him or anyone else who is interested in having it shipped. I didn't know what parts were needed for the conversion, so I didn't know what to pull. The parts he listed do not look like they would be difficult to remove, nor would they change the shipping cost that much.
