For sale is a good, guaranteed, used M20 cylinder head from a 1991 BMW 325i convertible. I don't know how many miles were on this car.
I turned the crank with a 22mm wrench and the engine felt and sounded normal (breathing noises, no metal hitting metal) . I then removed the distributor cap and the the timing belt top cover and I inspected the timing belt. It was there, and tight, and seemed to be in good condition. Then, I removed the head. I didn't notice any debris after I removed the valve cover, nor any oil-and-water mix. I undid the cylinder head bolts in a criss-cross way, starting in the middle and working my way outwards, in multiple steps. After removing the head, it was always placed at an angle, either on a loose piece of carpet or on the upholstered seat of my van, so it's not like it was put down on a hard surface that might have scratched it or damaged the valves. As part of the manifold removal process, some studs stayed in the head and some came out. I didn't remove the spark plugs. They happen to be included in the deal.
The price includes the camshaft (with the wheel for the belt) and also the valve train.
Price: $300 plus whatever it costs to ship it ground UPS or ground FedEx. Local pickup is also an option, if you happen to be within driving distance of Reno, NV. :-)
