        Just curious what it's grounding exactly?
        My 87 has it. But my 85 doesn't. Previous owner probably didn't put it back.

          These are actually known as noise suppression straps.

          As friction builds up on the hood of the car while traveling, it generates a voltage potential different to that of the chassis ground. The result will be noise in your FM/AM radio. These straps will help alleviate that.

                        I don't have any pictures but I should get some soon.

                        It mounts from the radiator support bolt to the hood. It will be very clear to you once you go look under the door.
