The mug relief is awesome! I lile how you're incorporating the ability to hold the phone in the front but i would love a spot (like in the first post) to have an area for random stuff. Biggest thing for me is that i still gave the stock tape deck and a 120gb ipod for music. Would like be have a place for both phone and ipod...

I know I'm being picky now.

"mug relief" good one. and random stuff compartment is necessary. Also, I think instead of the usb outlet, just have the good old cigar lighter and we can modify ourselves if we want.

The problem with the compartment was that it was only a little more than an inch wide, so you really wouldn't have been able to put much in it. I'll see what this looks like once I get it printed, as I may be able to have the phone dock offset over a little more towards the shifter...as long as it doesn't start to create interference with shifting, or block viability of the phone. I also may be able to push the cup holders back further, but that may limit the height of drinks to be used.

Unfortunately, you cant please all the people all the time.

I'd love one of these, one of the best looking units by far

I likes..one thing about integrating phone slot in the front is all phones are different sizes, you will have issues with fitment(too loose/too tight) just stick with the dual usb ports you can still charge Cell pones via this..other then that it looks good..the slot in the back doesn't have to be that wide, cell phones nowadays are pretty slim and so are pens, pencils..I think 1in for that slot is more then enough..I'm in

My $.02 is keep keep the random stuff tray, I realize what you said about it only being an inch wide so if at all possible make it wider, but if not scrap it. I'm kind of split on USB vs Cig lighter. Would it be possible to keep both? Not sure if I like the phone holder though.

Keep the two usb, no phone holder. Keep it simple!

Great ideas going around here. My suggestion is to get a few basic designs out for people to buy up, try out, and review. That way you can find out some issues with the fitment and use of your basic model and tweak your cad file to suit. Then start doing more custom or intricate models.

                          This is excellent

Besides that iPhones suck and Galaxy is what is up I think this is cool

Would you consider doing individuals? I am not sure of your manufacturing process.

I agree with the statment that iphones suck, as I use a droid. :)

As for manufacturing, this would all be done in my shop at home. This is a side project I'm working on is all. I am a Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer by trade, so I'm always tinkering on something.

I have a good relationship with a local tool maker/molder and am going to work with him to see what he can do an aluminum mold for. This being said it will most likely be a limited run as the tool will wear pretty quick. I will most likely shoot them in PC to keep them cheap and limit the tool wear. I'm thinking I have to sell ~100 @$75.00 to make $0.00 profit. :)

I say you'll get there. Great concept, looking forward to the very limited run of no phone dock or a universal fit. :]

Maybe check out what the bigger iHome style universal phone dock / receiver's do might net some ideas there.

would be willing to pay for the 3-d model (step file, unless you also use inventor) and then find somewhere to get it made locally...
