Now that these cars are worth that much, most of them are being gently driven and/or have become garage queens. Therefore, the numbers of M3s that need of a tranny replacement are very low. For $875, it's going to sit for a long time. I know because I sell M3 parts here and there.

The issue with these parts is they are not M3 specific. The diff for instance is the exact same diff found in any e30 automatic 325. Coupes, convertibles, sedans......the lot. It's even the same diff, with the exception of the cover and output flanges, as the e28 4.10.

The tranny is a different story. While much more rare, it's also not M3 specific. It was found in 82 528e cars with an m20 belhousing, early e12 and e24 cars, and I have heard it could be special ordered for e28 535i cars.

All that said, I think $250 for your diff is a great price, and while I think your price is a little high for the tranny without the bell housing, I don't think it's absurd.

All that said, it's just my opinion, and opinions are like assholes, everyone has one.
      thanks, broseph!

I actually do have the bellhousing which I will include for the buyer, It just increased shipping significantly, so I removed it from the ad. Its still bolted to the tranny.

Yeah, might have to take a reasonable offer on that. Thanks.

We had to do this on my 2.73LSD a few years ago when because the original numbers were rusted and unreadable on the case.
Lol, yeah, I know how to measure it. It is a 4.10. I get all these questions via pm about what ratio it is, but I have no idea why when the only ratio (to the best of my knowledge) in a us-spec 1990 m3 was 4.10 LSD.

This lists all drivetrain specs for all M3's, anything that could be bought by a dealership. It even lists Group A cars.

The only M3 with a 4.10 is a "base" US spec M3, with a standard transmission. The rest of the world got 3.25 diffs and a special gearbox, or different ratios in more exotic versions.

I'm sorry that you were offended when I wanted to make sure it was actually a 4.10. If I'm spending $300 on anything, I want to make sure I know what I'm getting. Pictures would also help.

When I realized we couldn't agree on a price, I wished you happy holidays and that I thought that was that. So in that spirit, I hope you learned something, and good luck with you sale.

Of course people are going to ask the ratio if you don't list it.

Also, it doesn't say US spec M3 in your add. Just 1990 M3.

I would also want confirmation on the ratio.
For example, my US spec E30 M3 had a 3.73 LSD in it when I bought it.........someone had it changed out. My car was a long commuter car for a number of years, so I guess one of the po's swapped in a better diff for the highway commute.

Of course, I understand the concept, but I advertised the part as OEM with 125k miles. The us spec 90 m3 only came with one diff ration: 4.10 LSD. This is not like an e36 m3 which could have come with one of 3 different factory ratios depending on year and transmission option - there was only one option. I guess it was FAR too much for me to assume common sense on my initial advertisement... To me, if it was anything other than a stock 4.10 from a US car, I would have said, "euro spec" or non-m e28, or whatever the hell else... It was epic fail on my part to assume common sense, but I would have been happy to disclose it was a 4.10 LSD. LOL. Mr2peak just got offended when I answered his question with a question over PM, I guess...So sensitive. Are you looking for an apology? If so, I am sorry. Regardless, you weren't willing to pay what I wanted for the part, so Again, I ask wtf are we doing here?

OEM = original equipment... if it was something other than that which was swapped it, it wouldn't be OEM, and I certainly would not have been able to document the mileage on the unit, nor would there be a point to saying it came out of my E30 m3... If it was a diff from another car, I would have advertised it as such. Regardless, I don't understand why this discussion is continuing with him, he bought a diff... hes clearly not interested in this one.

This diff is an original unit from my US spec 1990 M3 which is a 4.10 LSD with 125K documented miles for $299 picked up OR + actual shipping charges. Thank you.

                A) LOL @ "the ONLY M3 with a 4.10 is a base US spec M3, with a standard transmission"........ you realize that is literally 95% or more of the M3s IN THE UNITED STATES, RIGHT?.....WE ARE IN AMERICA....Literally, EVERY SINGLE US SPEC E30 M3 came with a 4.10 rear end.... I love you word choice of "the only M3"...

                B) I wasn't offended, I just found the question to be remarkable. And lets be serious, you weren't spending $300 on a diff, you were "spending" about $215 and $80 in shipping and supplies ...

                C) you found a diff from a 5 series, why are you still shitting up my thread? I don't get it?
