An 885 IS an i head and your 528 would have had a 200.

That is not correct. The 1988 325 and 528e were Super Eta engines. They used the 885 cylinder head casting with single valve springs and a Eta camshaft.

Then what would be the point of swapping it for an i head

            ?

So if you had an 87 323e, this would be the head you need to do the swap to a 2.7 i engine?

So I'm a little confused. I am looking for a 885 head to do the "I" swap on my ETA. Is this the correct head? Or is this just a "I" head with ETA running gear.

This is the same casting as a "i" head but uses a 325e cam and valve springs. you would have to get a 325i cam and valve springs to make a to make a normal "i" 885 head .which is what u want for a 2.7i build "i" head on eta block. this head is good for some one with a super eta looking for a stock head. Or as a starting point for some one that's going use a aftermarket cam and valve springs.

Ok thanks for clarification. I always thought the super eta was just a regular "I" head. you learn something everyday!

I won't ask why swap heads just to get inner valve springs and a cam...but what's a 323e
