No, they were on my car for a while and they left some residue due to dirt and grime, but they have rubber pads on the bottom to cushion so no scratches.

It's an older Yakima rack.
I'll vouch for it being a good rack. I only got rid of it because all of my bike and ski attachments were Thule and would not fit the round bars.

Just an Fyi the thule and yakima racks both with accept the bike and ski attachments from both manufacturers, they have knock outs in the mounts to accept the round barsComment
