    FS: Startec smoked taillights

    Startecs with a few minor cracks but overall good condition, no missing pieces, no leaks. Bulb holders included. Fits all E30 M3, 84-87 318/325 and convertibles up to 91 with small tail lights. $600 shipped.


    Drivers side has the large crack on the corner turn signal (see picture) as well as a crack on the very top edge near the reverse light. Also has a very small fracture on the turn signal which is not noticeable.

    Passenger side has one small hairline crack.

              What causes these to crack so bad?

                  The plastic gets brittle so hot sun/cold is terrible for these. Most OE tails have the same cracks by now too, you just can't see them as well thanks to the amber/red color. You have to look really hard for them. On Startecs they are more obvious and considering the newest sets were produced over 10 years ago...shit happens. Also, when washing the car a rag/sponge or whatever can snag the sides of the light especially the license plate area. Don't ask how I know. =/ The way they produced these leaves a gap between the outter lens and the housing along the edges. That's why you often see missing pieces in these areas. A bead of silicone to fill and reinforce, makes it a non issue. Extra care must be taken...that's all.

                      Ahh. I have inspected my lights every wash. No cracks luckily and knock on wood.
