Does anyone have the black cover part number? This part covers the circlips and also act as a protector.

The install went smoothly. Recommend to use a 02 socket on one end to keep the piston from sliding off the C-clamp.

I'm not aware of a PN for the caps. Keep in mind that they snap on to the original push nuts and will not fit on the one I provide due to the larger diameter. If you manage to salvage the caps with the original push nuts and they still fit together, I've been able to reinstall them over the new push nuts that come with the replacement shocks.

Better than OEM caps is black 3/16" push nut from Orchard (OSH) or any hardware store. Fits perfect!!!! Actually, it looks better than OEM.

It actually took me a while to find out they were even called push nuts and from there I checked multiple sources so I'm interested in what you found.

I have a question about lubrication of the mechanism. Mine were really caked with old, hard grease. So I cleaned them up and want to re-grease with something that will last but not melt and drip onto my carpet when it gets hot (I live in a desert). Any suggestions?

if you are talking about the mechanisms themselves...teeth, pivots etc. depending on how bad they are I will use degreaser or brake cleaner or both. For lube...ifnyounare in a very dirty, dusty, gritty environment I would either leave them dry or use a light machine oil just so there's something on them. Just keep in mind whenever you use dirt will stick to it.

Otherwise I use a VERY light spritz of white lithium. The only issue I've ever seen is the teeth getting gummed up with dog hair so the seat back won't stay. Rarely are they truly worn to the point of being scrap...but it does happen.

Of course the key to seat salvation is new seat shocks !!

Just got shocks and they look proper. I made a mistake ordering and Jeff sorted it out, on his dime. Excellent transaction.
