They'll be set to what you set them too. That's different than "always be set to the perfect setting based on weather conditions." They aren't intelligent, they're just adjustable. Which is still awesome and a very welcome mod for an e30.

pretty cool. I notice a slight delay before it starts it's cycle which is cool. currently mine just sprays straight at the wipers for the first second.

Yes, there is a slight delay before the wipers start moving after spraying. Just so they don't go rubbing on dry glass.

For installation, does this just replace the wiper relay? (really that easy?)

This would usually be one of those things that I wouldn't care about, but for $60 it seems like a nice feature to have.

It is really simple.

Here are the steps you have to take:
- unplug the original Wipers Relay
- take it out of its housing
- put our module in the housing
- plug it back in place and you are done
