I sold this BMP rear bumper to Ary a couple months ago. I personally removed it from an EARLY model coupe. So I believe the fitment is meant for an early model.

However, before I sold it, I briefly checked the fitment on my cabrio (which has late model arches) and it seemed like it would fit that as well.

Why is this? My guess is because with this bumper you are not limited by the late model bumper shocks. Since most likely you'll be making custom mounts you have some adjustability in how close you mount the bumper to the body.

The difference in length between a late model and early model is right at 3/4"

So, If you want it to fit a late model then you bring the bumper up snug to the body and that should make up the 3/4" difference and allow it to line up at the fender arch.

Conversely, on an early model, you would mount the bumper slightly farther away from the body (leaving a small gap) in order for it to line up at the fender arch.

Cliff Notes: Bumper is meant for early model, but may also fit late model cars. Ary needs to bust out the measuring tape and/or photos to confirm this.

Thanks for the info:) We did a test fit on the late model and it seems to fit.. This bumper should fit any e30.
      Thanks,

This is a very quick test fit! It meets right to the edge of the fender.

I completely understand what you are saying, and judging by his pics, it makes sense. I really have to wonder, though, why a company like BMP would create 2 different molds from scratch, if they didn't have too.

I have a unkown BMP RS1 apron on my early model, and it's basically flush with the rear panel. Of course, under the rear panel the body curves in a good 1" or so, so on late model cars, the bumper would actually tuck in under the rear panel, as it appears it does in the photo above.

Late model appears to be the victor. As with my plastic swap to the 87. Shoulda bought the late model.

From the look of your picture it looks as if your bumper sticks out pat the fender even on the late model.

If this is so then NO your product WILL NOT fit 84-87 E30s. This is coming from someone that has hands on experience swapping bumpers from an 88+ onto an 87 E30.

We want to hear the words "We guarantee this part will work on both early & late model cars" and what your course of action will be if it does not work on our cars.
