OBC Temp Sensor replacement - NEW! $14.95 shipped.

Hey George I recently put new bulbs in my 6-button OBC and can see the display for the first time. In a previous post (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=360103) I show the wire that looks to be for the temp sensor.

Anyway, since I now see -22 as the temp, I know I need a new sensor. Would your replacement just attach to my existing wires or do I have to run it back into wherever it goes?Comment

It will attached to what remains of your existing wires - looks like a dog chewed on them though ;) So you might need clean them up/extend them to get to a good mounting location under the front bumper.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Got mine today George, thanks! Great Instructions!!One question- as I repair this and other electrical issues what type of connectors should I use? Seems to me I've seen some shrink-wrap (heat) tubes such that you slide one over one side of a splice, solder the wires, move the tube over the wires and heat it so it seals the splice. Can you make a recommendation on an effective and professional way to make repairs?Comment

Yep! That's what I would do (and have done) on my own car - that is solder and heat shrink. In a pinch you could you butt connectors - but that area gets a lot of abuse with water and road grime. So, solder will give you a great connection, and the heat shrink will keep everything nice and tidy.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?Comment

Hey George it's nice to have something other than -22 displayed, but I think I mounted it in the wrong place. I got a little carried away with my extension wires and mounted it zip tied to the rear of the left fog light. I think it may be too close to the road, or needs shielded from the road. (Fog lights are off- but as I think about it that wasn't a good option for accurate readings when the fog lights are on). It reads a little high, and on a sunny 80 degree day if sitting at a light it'll climb a degree every few seconds to over 100. What do you think?Comment
