Try contacting the Odometer gear dude in VA - at the bottom of his FAQ it looks like he'd be willing to produce other stuff, but then again, I don't know what it would cost to make a die for this, but he might be more small-scale.
Why not have them milled out of aluminum and then anodized black and then install the gauges/boards etc to closely represent the original?
There was a guy in Europe that tried to make them from milled Al years ago - he actually sold 10 IIRC. They were milled Al, and just didn't look all that great. His asking price was $675 euros or about $920 USD. I think only one or two made it to the states.

Really? Cool, but it wasn't made in the USA... LOL
i think injection molding would be the easiest.. and i'm all for the idea but personally i've been waiting for a boost gauge in the econometer and would rather see that before an alpina gauge recreation. in any case i would 100% be a future customer for both!
milling that peice from AL would be expensive, end of story. milling it from anything would be expensive, or he could mill it from delrin. you wouldnt want it AL/ annodized you would still be able to see every move the tool made and as cool as that is, it would get annoying.

I've been playing around with the idea in my head. So, I've been looking up as much info as I can. That's where I found this for sale ad. I've collect every picture, and bit of info that I could find on them - and have them all organized in a "future projects" folder.
The electronics would'nt be the hard part, for me it's the plastic.
Mainly I've been thinking about how to mold that piece, or something like it.
It's not something I could get manufactured. The smallest runs are somewhere in the neighborhood of 5000 units or something dumb.
I'm looking into small run, DIY small mold making. The only two problems with that are heat and UV. You know how hot your dash can get in the sunlight - especially in you live in California. And I'm sure you could understand how quickly something could fade with all the sunlight.
There are actually a few companies born out of the craft industry that have some really cool new products for making molds - I'm thinking of giving them a try.
Anyways, if anyone buys this one, please let me know.

I could have my designer model a vent pod solution and have it injection molded and the minimum run is 1000 pieces.
I even have a gauge manufacturer that can make a custom digital display to show the 4 readings and the total cost per unit would be much less than what people are paying for the Alpina piece.
The question is how many people would buy the gauge setup?
And if people are curious as to what my qualifications are check out my products at www.podi.ca
