Anyone out there? Would like to complete the swap with the intention of driving to the Brodeo this summer.

      Thanks,

Just confirm...how late is your late model? 89's are "late" but have non airbag pedals, same as 84-88. Airbag pedals are different, but all you actually need are the pedals and the clutch master stuff, not the pedal box.

Tranny's are interchangeable, 325e trannies have open ports for crank position sensor you can cap off.

Center bearings are different but you can get an early body driveshaft and swap a late center bearing over no problem.

I could possibly help you with a tranny and driveshaft and don't mind shipping, but just wanted to let you know that you can open up your search to early model stuff for a lot of it, it might help you find the stuff locally.

If you use a 325e tranny make sure to use a 323i throwout bearing or shim the right side of the fork.

I'd recommend not heeding this advice because the trannies are identical. Only difference is there are holes for crank position sensors. Early trannies used sheet metal shift consoles as well, but as far as I know/have seen/swapped between cars e and i trannies are mechanically identical. Maybe u were trying to use an odd clutch setup if you had to use a taller TOB or shim anything, please enlighten us/me.
