WTB: 3" in, dual out muffler

I am looking for a muffler that has a centered 3" inlet and centered dual out but the outside distance between the tips must be 6.25" or less. So if they are 3" tips, they would have to have a max of 6mm between them or it won't fit in the M3 apron.

I am ok with tips as small as 2" if there isn't more than 2" in between them. No magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers work unless you have one with custom worked tips to bring them together. I currently have a magnaflow with 3" tips jury rigged to fit and they still rub the apron.

Let me know what you've got, thanks

I did a lot of searching at one point and I could not find what you want. I ended up having to pipe the tips in, which is quite the pain in the ass.

Yeah, you'd think there was a market for closer outlets but I guess 99% of universal users want stupid huge tips so manufactures space them really far out.

What I did was bought a vibrant and cut the tips off. The 3.5 were to big for the M3.

I've spoken to vibrant a few times and their closest tipped one is still too wide by half an inch. What do you mean you cut the tips off? They don't come with tips on them. Does your exhaust not exit the apron?

Not a fan of that look. I am trying to keep it looking original.

I run a Vibrant 1149. 3" inlet, dual tips but in a black finish. Sounds perfect at idle and low RPM's but I need more rasp reduction (probably because of the headers) for upper RPM's. I have a 10" resonator but thinking of adding a 2nd muffler in place of the gutted cat.

It would be cool if that muffler would fit but my understanding is that the tip edge distance is over 6.25". Can you please measure it?

You need the vibrant ultra quiet resonator. it did wonders for my drone and high frequency noise.

I have the same exact car with the same exact problem. lol. I bought the vibrant with the 3.5 tips by mistake as I did not measure the M3 cutout. What i did was have the exhaust shop cut off the tips, and weld in two 2.5 tips that met right at the end of the bottom lip. You would never know that I had a aftermarket exhaust unless I turned the car on.

can you post or email a pic of your solution? Which vibrant muffler did you use?

                            Sorry for the delay...

I just measured it at 6-3/16" across the tips.

I'm on the fence about the ultra quiet resonator vs. muffler. Are you running headers as well?

Thanks for measuring, I am confused by your measurement though. Vibrant wrote me an email saying "Our 1149 is exactly 6.462” from outer edge to outer edge of the tip." but yours is nearly a cm shorter? Did you add tips or was the 6 3/16" the outer edges of the vibrant flat black tips? Are you certain you didn't measure 6 3/8? It will make the difference of fitter or not for me. And I really like the flat black stock look, and hope it would be quieter than the magnaflow.

The UQ resonator took my setup from headache inducing to tolerable. It significantly reduced drone, vibration and high frequencies but did not effect volume very much. A second muffler would probably do all that plus lower volume. Yes, I have stock s38b36 headers.

Here are pics of my magnaflow with 3" tips ghetto rigged to not fit. You can see the left just has a 3" sleeve over the 2.5" pipe, and the right just graduated to 3". horrible, and still doesn't fit.
