I have 2 cars with heated seats, only 1 switch working properly. So I'm looking for FOUR heated seat switches so I have 1 spare. They have to be in good cosmetic and mechanical condition.
These little switches are actually fairly complicated inside with a resistor and ball bearings. the bulbs are also soldered on and very difficult to replace. so basically these things are a PITA to work on.
The easiest way to test them is in car with a functioning harness, but here's how to test them by themselves. each pin on the switch is clearly labeled, and it's pretty simple
- you supply 12v to pin 5, ground pin 1.
- then take a multimeter and measure the voltage across pins 3 and 6.
- Should be zero when off, low volts when on low heat, full 12 volts on high.
- each side of the switch should light up when it is selected.
If they look good and seem to work well mechanically, but you can't or don't want to electrically test I'm still interested. I'll pay less though since I don't know if they work.
