    wtb: 4.10 lsd

    Hey guys the title says it looking for a 4.10 lsd for my 91 318is. not sure what the big and small cases are that i hear of on the forums. but i want the one thats gonna just bolt right into my subframe. i live right outside of philadelphia so if i can find something local that would be great and can save me on shipping. thanks guys

      Both the large and small case diffs will bolt right in. The M42 cars had the small case as OEM to save weight but you can use either.

        The 4:10 I have is from a e36 318 ti. In case your unaware the e36 318 ti uses the same rear subframe carrier and differential. I'm using the carrier and the brakes but I have no need for the diff.

            I have a couple of medium case 4.10 LSDs.

            they are a direct bolt-in. clutch and viscous.
            1991 E30 M3 Brilliant/black - S54B32/5M
            1990 E30 318iT RHD Lagunagrun/tan - S52B32Turbo/5M
            2011 E82 1M VO/blk/6M
            1991 E31 850i red/grey/6M
            1997 F355 spider red/tan/6M

              The viscous diffs had a different mounting bushing due to the lower position of the rear sub frame. The diff will not be in proper allignment if the rear cover or mount is not changed.

                true, forgot he was coming from small case. sounds like hes more interested in a clutch diff anyways.
