I won't be using mine. I will grab pictures and post them up later today to see if you are interested.

I'm not sure if M42 cars have a different master though.

Cool, will send you a PM. I'm pretty sure they're all the same.

They are not all the same! Cars with ATE front brakes have ATE booster and master. Cars with girling front brakes have girling booster and master. 91 318s have slightly different girling booster.

If you still need a booster and master I have a girling from a 89 325i that was just removed last month and is known good! PM me if interested!
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

Thanks for your reply. I did know there are two different brands. A lot of early cars have ATE components but I've since installed rebuilt Girling brake calipers. My 87 325is does have the early ATE booster, but should be interchangeable with Girling.

How is the 318/325 booster different?

Vacuum line connects on other side of booster so it might work but you would need a longer vacuum line. Also make note that you can't use a ATE master in a girling booster or a girling master in a ATE booster.

Thanks for following up with that info. Yeah it looks like the 91 318i/s vac line is on the left side, while my 87 ATE vac line is on the right. It does however look like the vac line can be flipped around to just plug in on the other side.

You can orient the booster anyway you want. Vac either side, as long as the mount for the master can mount it up right

Todd thank you for this reply. I went with the 318is booster and will update here how it works out.
