I can get one for $148 brand new from dealer. Is that good?

Ya know, that's still not bad. People are charging like $150 for used, half rusted valances. I'd rather pay like $300 for one from the dealer, ready for fresh paint without that textured bullshit.Comment

I don't think you are talking about the same parts. The air dam for a 86 es is NLA. The part # superceded to an is air dam some time ago. It too is NLA. I just called BMW and verified this. Last listed prices were $461.10 for es, $543. for is. Now you know why they sell for so much used in good condition. The valance is the sheet metal part behind the air dam.1988 Alpine white M3

Is that what you need?
Those should be fairly easy to find used, though you wont save much if you have to ship, and most in the midwest have rusted. I wouldnt hesitate to spend $150 on a new one.Joe Funk -- Portland Oregon

valence etc.
I believe I am speaking of the same part. Under the bumper. Seem my link here: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...41&fg=10&hl=13
It shows up in red text the part I refer to, which is the large plastic/metal part (cosmetics) in front. Not the mounting bracket.sigpic1986 325es....the beater bimmerComment

That valance is metal, the piece in the pic that Funkmasta posted is an ABS plastic or some sort of composite. Do a little searching you'll see the difference after you see a few pictures. The plastic valance funkmasta is talking about goes in front of the part you are talking about as an add-on accessory, and was standard on the 86 325es and 87 325is (although there was variances in the vent slots between the two).
The 88-91 cars had a revised valance that utilized smaller plastic bumpers and could not have a plastic spoiler attached to it like whats shown in funkmasta's pic.
What is it you want? The early style valance that sits about a foot behind the bumper, the plastic spoiler that fits over top of the early valance (almost flush with the metal bumper), or the later valance that can be used with plastic bumpers?
Both metal valances are available new and used, with the early style being very cheap. The plastic spoiler is NLA and very hard to find in good condition with mounting brackets and fog lights.Comment

Post up a pic, other then realoem. Go find a pic of one on a car and show us. An 86 won't have the valance in the realoem database you are showing. It is the valance that the black car that Fmasta posted up.
You just need to clearify what you need. #8, doesn't look anything like the front air dam from an 86Comment
