well i don't have any experience with e30 cv axles in particular, but it should be pretty easy. unbolt from the diff (usually like 6 bolts) and then on the outside, remove the retaining clip and the nut on the end. i don't know on these cars if you have to take the rear disk off or anything else though. i'll look around and see what i can find.
Pull the center cap off the wheel. With the car on the ground, unbolt the ungodly tight , 30mm axle nut.
Jack the car up, remove the wheel. Unbolt the 6 Allen bolts on the diff end. Drop it down, hand it with wire (don't leave it unsupported).
Unbolt the shock (for clearance), pull the brake caliper and caliper bracket, pull the rotor.
Using a 3 jaw puller, attach the jaws to the hub and center the rod on the axle, and start cranking. Sometimes, they are STUCK. In this case, smack the head of the puller with a sledge. This won't damage anything as it transmits the force to the axle. Just keep it tight so the rod doesn't slide and hit the splines.
