        Hey Oliver,

        I when it comes to fixing dents at a body shop as oppose to PDR. how do they normally approach it?

        Take for example door dings. Correct me if I'm wrong but my assumption is that if the dent is not deep, they use a heavy filler to fill it in and level it

          Hey Oliver, two new questions for you

          As you recall you gave me a small batch of leftover dupont SS paint for touch-up purposes in case I nick something during the re-install.

          It's been 2 months since and I have had the paint has been unused, placed in a sealed ziplock bag, and stored, in a warm spot in my house (avg 60F degrees). Anyway, I took it out of storage and it doesn't seem coagulated yet. Would the paint still be good to use?

          If so.... my next concern is the conditions to paint some spots. It's pretty cold now but my car is in a well insulated garage. I can run a portable heater and the garage can get up to 70F degrees. Without a heater, it drops back down to a consistent 50F. That said, will it affect the time it takes to dry, adhesion strength, or quality of finish?

            im not really sure how temperature would affect curing honestly, what is important is to keep the car uncovered to let the fumes out of the paint.

            you can still use the touch up paint if it has not separated yet.

              hah gotta keep you busy when you don't have customers haggling you on prices.

              anyway, what do you mean by if "paint has not separated". what are the characteristics?

                its very obvious when it happens, the actual color separates form the binder over time, It looks like a layer of oil sitting on top of the black

                    Keeping this thread alive. Oliver regarding windshield replacements... From an autobody standpoint, what is your take on the effects windshield removal installation or removal has on existing/fresh paint around the cowl?

                    Since modern windshields are bonded are you concerned about how the adhesive affects paint? For example does bonding a windshield on fresh paint mean the paint it is susceptible to damage? What about removal of old adhesive on existing paint during a replacement?

                        Usually it damages the paint, its best to refinish the vehicle with the windshield out, windshield removal can peel paint if it did not get removed before paint

                          Hey Oliver,

                          I recently bought a BMW spoiler that was damaged upon arrival. The corner broke clean off and I was wondering what the best thing to do in terms of reattaching it. I think it's salvageable considering it was a clean break and once your slap it on, there is only a hairline crack visible.

                          I'm not sure what sort of material is inside but it looks like some sort of hard black foam. Any recommendations?
