I understand that. I just dont understand why I cant sell it close for what I bought it for 5-6 months earlier. Like I said before, go to dell and build my laptop and it still holds its value.

Yea that and think of it like when you buy a brand new car, the second you drive it off the lot its lost thousands of dollars.

Even if the computer is in perfect condition its still no longer brand new and has less warranty, etc.

It has nothing to do with Dell still using the same price on that model, its the fact that it has been used for 6 months and also the fact that computers have poor resale value in general.

But when people are in the market for a laptop/pc they compare prices to the manufacturer site or any other (ex: ebay) place where the product is sold.

but again they are comparing prices to a brand new item. Say for example you were to buy a pair of boxer, you walk around in them for about a day, no swamp ass or anything but then your like hey, i bet so and so would love these, turns out he did like them but instead of wearing your used stuff he went to get his own new stuff. So in reality you may just be advertising for the company, "well hey thats a great laptop, but id rather have one that is new to me!"...Id much rather have a new 53oi or a 545 however i dont have $XXXXXXXXXXXX sitting around to get one
