$3500 is hefty but for those rare birds who have money and don't want the hassle, this may be a chance.

          Then do it.

First of all, very few if any people are willing to separate their RS198s. Even so, sets go from like $1700-2500 for them. Then you have to find some 16" 4x114.3 RSs, and part them out as well. Add the redrill, add refinishing, and you can easily see why this isn't an easy task.

And in regards to RS178s... not that simple. Say you get yourself some 178s for a thousand bucks, you still have to get the 4x114 centers, and do redrill/refinish. And then what? You have yourself some 17x9.5" ET55 4x100 wheels with no lip and won't fit on any cars. RS178 barrels are 8"s and kinda useless. And you're still around 2k in the hole.

          To that I say... Meh.

You could fill n drill 198s though. Yea, some people get scared about fill and drills but i've seen redrills put through its paces. Some people might have qualms with taking a drill to a purdy set of 198s, but you'd have to take em apart to do the above plan anyway. Also, adapters are steadily getting thinner and cheaper as time goes on. Not trying to thread shit, I just know you're trying to guage interest here, and I'm throwing in my 2 cents

It's cool, i always appreciate constructive input.

Still though- this was more of a discussion about who, if anyone would have interest in a set like this. I may not even pursue getting the 16"s if I know the chances of selling such an expensive and outlandish set are very small (which they appear to be).

Guys, I'm going to say the same thing here I always do, whenever something comes up for sale that 99.9% of this board can't afford...

Yeh. I have no problems with some good wheel talk.

From what I've seen recently, the prices of RS wheels have been driven down with the economy sucking as it has. The only people that are still willing to throw money at rare wheels are usually the s14.net crowd, who are typically older guys with garage queen cars who have the extra money to blow.

people who are on the fence (not necessarily cheapasses-just don't already have perfect cars) spend their money on other things, leaving what would be the ultimate wheel purchase, as almost the last purchase they make when modding.

Also factor in the cheap knock offs that have been flooding the market recently (any number of ESM wheels), which have made it easier to run a certain "looking" wheel, without the huge price tag. The rationalization there is that only the true enthusiast is going to know the difference between the real thing and the fake, and how often do you come across a true enthusiast during your everyday travels?

So in short, you're better off sticking to 5 lug wheels and offering them to the rich crowd. Or source wheels like 001-003 that sell <$2k.

Well spoken. That was the intent with the 198s, and they're already on s14. I figured I'd be creative and do something that no one ever had, but the feasibility of this just is ehhh i guess.

You know i love you hex but the price is steep considering i can do fill n drills for way less than it would cost to frankenstein 2 sets together to make this work.
                                Need Custom spacers and adapters?
