Sold- FS: 225/45/16 Maxxis MA V1 - $250 OBO (for all four tires)

Last October I bought the Maxxis MA-V1 tires for my ’91 M3. People on s14.net advised me against installing an “unkown quanity” on my car, stating that the E30 M3 chassis does not treat all tires as equal and is very sensitive to certain tread patterns.

Hooey, I thought to myself… I had used all sorts of cheap tires on my 325is, with no ill effects.

So, at 60mph, my M3 exhibits a shimmy at the steering wheel. I had the wheels balanced and rebalanced, and everything seems to be a-ok. I guess the tread pattern is not E30 M3-friendly. Maybe you need these for a non-E30 M3 application?

These tires have less than 750 miles on them.

    $250 picked-up in Anaheim.

Will ship at the buyer’s expense.

Sorry Mark but that "E30 M3 owner's theory" just seems silly.

Those are great tires for the price.

Matt, yeah, I thought so too, at first. It's either the tires of the 5mm hubcentric spacers I am running up-front...

A 5mm hub centric spacer should not cause a vibration. I wish I had the cash for these, this is just what I want for my track wheels...

            Correct.

I am a dipshit. With regard to spacers, I thought 'hubcentric' meant the bore of the spacer was exactly the same as the hub's bore center.

The 5mm spacer leave just a few mm's of the hub's lip available for the rim to seat. I removed the caliper rattle clips and reinstalled the wheels without the spacers, and voila! No shimmy. :weak:

            So, the Maxxis are fine.
