i have the same tires on baskets, work very well. 8mm spacer upfront, 5mm [1/4"] out back

Did you notice any difference with the slight staggering of your spacers front/rear? I do the same thing only a 5mm difference, I was surprised just how much it affected the balance.
Not really. I dint mess around much with them. The fronts needed that much spacing and still rubbed on the strut [slightly] rears needed this or they rub on the inner fender. So it was more of a necessity.

Actually,im using the exact same tire on 14" baskets with stock struts. 8mm spacers up front and 5mm spacers out back. They rub, but not enough to cause any damage.

This size will rarely rub on my setup, say if I hit a pretty big dip on the lot during a corner, not enough to do any damage as somebody already said. I rolled my fenders and run spacers.
