Like the title states - these aren't mine nor do I know the seller. I'm not particularly crazy about the bling factor, but maybe someone else here is. For those not familiar, El Dorado Hills / Cameron Park is about ~30 minutes due east of Sacramento, Calif.

My 15" reps were chrome. When I got them de-chromed at a local shop, the guy said that they had the most layers of metals he'd ever seen.

Could those be stripped/blasted by a powdercoating place?

I'd buy these up in a second. I really want to see.....

All it takes is some time & $. If my money picture were a bit better I would snatch these up and have them done with silver satin finish. Its a nice, classic wheel for the E30.

As far as I have heard the process is quite a pain in the ass and very expensive. You can try to scuff the chrome up enough to make paint stick but chances are it will fail. I'd call a chrome shop and get a quote. I think you would be much better off waiting for a painted set to pop up.

bah, elbow grease ppl. i have refinished a set of chromies before, yes its a pita, and you will cut yourself of the sharp edges, but it can be done. for $350, these wheels are worth the trouble.

Its not a matter of it being hard work, its a matter of paint adhesion to a chrome plated surface.

Just take them to a chrome shop. My original quote to get my reps dechromed was $25/wheel. The price went up significantly ($50/wheel) after they found out the botched chrome job(s) that resulted in the layers and layers of metals. So take it for what it's worth.

AFAIK they were never made in chrome so they have been dipped. (the old brochures only show silver and anthracite). I brought a single chrome wheel off a member here and had it stripped for around $40NZ. Only thing was it still left some of the copper underneath. still alot easier to sand that than the chrome. 2 years later the paint is still sticking fine. Only thing was some of the raised lettering (AC Schnitzer, made in germany, etc) got lost a as a result of the many layers and sanding.
