When i get a job. LOL. I'm broke. My fiance paid for the wheels, i paid for the fill and drill and hub rings, and the tires are from my old wheels that i sold.
So love30 came through today with an assortment of small spacers extended lug bolts. good news and and bad news. 3mm spacers will not work with out some extra work. It looks like the 5mm spacers should do the trick but they are just long enough so that your wheel will not sit on the hub. That seems like bad idea. So what i did was ground off 2mm from the bracket and used the 3mm spacers. I like the look a lot and feel anything over 8mm will give it poke. If i wanted that i could have saved myself some time and money and got some sport max 16x8 et15 wheels. So i think i'll run some already existing 10mm 57.1 hub centric spacers that the vw crowd uses and i'll try a 8mm spacer up front. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

That looks scary and unsafe. Sure its lasted a few months. I want it to last a few decades. Plus that would never pass a tech inspection. I was considering just grinding off a little material. But with the inside of the barrel being so close to the strut, i would never be able to fit a 225/45/50 tire in the front.
So before you decide to speak, Maybe you should search. I know I wouldnt have done it if I didnt think it wasnt safe.
I will show this pic for ref. Its from an e36.
I can dig up more photos of BMWs that are exactly the same way.Comment

Wait the new spacers that are going to be made will have a hub on the front side to sit on so any length is possible. Or am I mistaken?-tim

You say it looks scary and unsafe. but what you dont realize is that most new BMW cars are exactly the same way that I have cut my bracket.

Here is an e60 M5 (just in case my finace's car is too low budget)
I'm sure the engineers who designed our brakes know more then you or I will ever know about them. Yes some BMWs don't have a brace across the front of the caliper carrier, but they were engineered to not need them.
This guy would not do this unless he felt it was safe either.
What you don't realize is for the last 20 years my father (BMW tech) has been showing me more broken bmw parts then i care to remember. Him and all the other techs would have pissing contest on who had the most fubar'd part. Also the fact that until very recently when i decided to complete my engineering degree, I was a total loss claims adjuster and have seen first hand worst case scenario outcomes.
I tell you what, show me a fatigue analysis of your parts compared to an original part. If their failure points are within 20% of each other and that 80-0mph stopping distances are consistantly within 5 feet of non butchered brakes and i will eat my words and bow to you as the all knowing brake master. Until then, maybe you should think before you speak.Last edited by einstein57; 02-20-2009, 02:05 AM.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Waiting on this answer before I draw anything up - seems like the best solution to clear everything and remain safe is to make 1 sturdy piece.'89 335is +turboComment

Hey luker27. Go ahead and draw it up with a backside bore of 57.1mm and the frontside hub at 72.62mm that is 5mm thick. I think et18 all around is a good look. I would do it but I'm using a mac and i don't feel like running both platforms.-tim

will do, I will post the files and get a quote ASAP. Can someone please measure the thickness of the e30 hub lip? I do NOT want to make a part that compromises any sort of structural integrity.
...Don't I want to do 72.56 for the stock wheels as is? I can get a set modified for you, most likely, Einstein.
My e30 is currently 100 miles away - is there a significant chamfer to be matched on either hub edge?'89 335is +turboComment

I would like the 72.56 bore. What I said was just for einstein's sake. If you can make it with 72.56 bore I would rather have that. Thanks for the help on this.-tim

OK then. 4x100 holes, 8mm thick, 57.1 female, 72.56 male. If you get me the length of the hubs (male and female) I can have them quoted this weekend, otherwise I'll need to wait until I can measure my own. (I live in NJ during the week, my e30 and family home are in DE)
Thanks!
EDIT: If I can't look these numbers up, that is, since I'll want the exact lug hole diameter also.'89 335is +turboComment
