Enthusiast apparel uses them and they are like a heavier version of AA. They have a 4.6 and a 5.0 shirt. Price seems decent. Just an idea. Like I said, either way i'll be buying one.

I've looked into Hanes Beefy-T but the length tends to shrink a lot so the t-shirt becomes almost a square. I was going to do Alstyle but they tend to fade really quick and since I'm printing on dark colors, that won't really work. I'm left with Anvil but the shirts feel very thin and almost see through. Not everyone likes American Apparel. It's soft because it's 4.3 ounce versus other brands' 5~6.1 ounce shirts. Some might think thin is good quality while others might think the opposite, thicker is better.

I can't please everyone. I know you wanted American Apparel. What else would you suggest?

01-06-10 Update:

I will be using Gildan Ultra Cotton 6.1 ounce t-shirts. I spent some time doing research and I believe this will be the best. I will be receiving a sample by sometime next week and if all goes all, I will be receiving the order in 5 days' time after I have confirmed the sample.
