My other car is a Prius. I bought it when gas was $4.50/gal & I was dumping $80 a week at pump with my Pathfinder. Environment or not, I save a bundle on gas, so I can spend more on my E30. Just sayin...
Multiple studies have proven that the savings in gas doesn't offset the additional cost.
Most people forget about the cost and evironment hazards of having to dispose of the batteries once they die. Hybrids are not a longterm "cure all" for out oil dependance.
But I still dont see the need to ruin the way my e30 looks just to trash talk another kind of car.

Seriously. Just find a nice r3vlimited sticker or join the bmw cca if you want to sticky up your car. No need to use your e30 as a billboard to tell the world about cars you "hate" for whatever reason.
I'm not a big fan of the prius, but my daily is a first gen honda insight. I was dailying my vert for as long as I could, but it didn't make sense.. at all.
I get 60-70mpg ALL the time in that car and I drive 2000 miles a month or more for work. I also get reimbursed for my mileage on top of my salary at the federal rate - $0.555
I paid $7k for the car last May with tax title and tag.
So do I want to use 370 gallons of gas a year in my insight (65mpg) and keep all of that money?
Or should I use 1090 gallons of gas a year in my vert (22mpg) and worry about all of the repairs?
Here's the math:
I usually get a mileage check for about $1200 or more every month.
Insight insurance: $60/month
Oil change every 2 months (5k) with 3.5 qts. 0w20 and purolator: $40 - $20/month
Drop in K&N filter never gets replaced.. no other maintenance on 3cyl engine car. It just runs and runs.
Not a tough choice for me. It just happened to work out for my situation. Most people don't happen to drive as much as I do.
I'm just saying for the sake of hating on Prius'.. sometimes there is a good reason someone purchased that car. I look at cars like I look at tools, there's always a perfect car to get the job done.
I attached an image of my cluster on an average day. The econometer is dead accurate.
